Rooty Hill RSL

I've just spent the weekend at the Novotel Rooty Hill which is attached to Rooty Hill RSL.
Located in western Sydney about an hours drive (42 km) on the M4/M7 Motorway in Sydney, Australia.

The Novotel has a walk-through cocktail bar and restaurant which leads to the RSL (Returned Serviceman's Club). You don't need to be a member to enjoy the club facilities but you will have to show I.D which is scanned into the club computer.

Rooty Hill RSL is a large modern club with restaurants, bars and gaming areas.
Today I am reviewing the gaming floor.

There are about 726 poker machines according to This Link and the club enjoys one of the largest non casino areas in Australia.

According to the above link, the club raises an odd 43 million dollars in revenue per year, from poker machines alone.

There are a range of machines at the time of writing. My favourites are the Double Shots, Triple Shots, Year of the Dragon, 5 Treasures, Zorro just to name a few.

As a writer and a player, I am experienced enough to review from first hand experience. I travel the world reviewing the gaming areas and the reason is this:

I wanted to know which casino or club had the best slots/pokies. Simple. There is no information out there and if you decide to travel to this wonderful country (Australia) and fancy a gamble, where would you go? Where should you go? You can go to the local casino in every State, but where are the other places to go?

If I didn't tell you, you may never go to Rooty Hill in your lifetime. Why would you?

It is possible to catch a train to Rooty Hill, drive or catch a taxi.

Members of the club enjoy discounts on food, drinks and accommodation.

Putting your card in a slot machine, calculates as you play and earns you points which can be used on your choice of the above.

There is a barrage of Link and non-Link machines to play from 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent and $1 machines. I did not see any higher than $1.

One of my gripes as an avid poker machine player are the chairs. At Rooty Hill RSL most of the chairs are fabric, rounded with curved arm rests. In what I call the high roller section, there are faux leather chairs which are oh so comfy. All chairs swivel. This adds to your comfort as you wait for your jackpot to hit.

I am yet to hit a grand jackpot there but I have hit quite a few minor ones of about $100.

As an aside, you will find Roulette, Blackjack, Keno machines, Money Wheel and TAB facilities. ATM machines in the foyer are happy to give you cash with a fee of $2 per transaction.

With the convenience of a modern hotel attached, you can't go wrong. The basic rooms are large enough to hold a dance party.

I give Rooty Hill RSL the thumbs up. You should go.
Don't forget to bet in moderation, set your limit and don't go over it. Problem gamblers should seek advice.
